Eyes & Ears
about Eyes & Ears
Why it matters
Eyes and ears are windows to the world.
Driving a car. Creating a spreadsheet. Receiving a phone call. Having a conversation. Playing sports. Listening to music. You depend on your eyes and ears for relationships, work, travel, and time off. Keep your senses sharp.
The wisdom of preventative care. Seeing an ear and eye doctor twice a year for a vision and hearing test is a wise investment in your health. Taking care of yourself makes you the best you can be for others. So, it’s important to stay vigilant. Don’t let vision and hearing loss get a head start. Get tested. Common causes of ear and eye issues include:
- Long exposure to screens (eyes)
- Exposure to loud noises (ears)
Check to know what’s normal. You may not have presenting problems, or they may not feel urgent or disruptive. About 8% of men are colorblind, for example, and a little loss of hearing is normal over time. However, even if you think you’re “normal” for your age, there’s no way to know unless you get tested. Many men are surprised to find how much they benefit from glasses, ear cleaning, or eye drops they never thought they needed.
When it’s urgent. You need to see an ear and eye doctor now if:
- Things sound muffled
- You have noticeably excess earwax
- You hear a ringing or roaring in your ears
- Your eyes are constantly red, swollen, or leaking
- You’re having trouble reading books, screens, or signs
- Your eyes constantly hurt
- Your ears constantly hurt
- You feel dizzy
Untreated symptoms like these can easily get worse and may cause significant hearing or sight loss.
Men’s Best is committed to a no-nonsense approach that gets you seen and treated quickly by an eye and ear doctor. If you like us, tell us, and we’ll help you make a preventive health plan for future check-ups.
